Oroville

Oroville lies on the banks of the Feather River where it flows out of the Sierra Nevada foothills and enters the Central Valley. The town has a rich history as a gold mining hub, and later as the center of the olive canning industry. Local events include the Salmon Festival and the Feather Fiesta Days celebration. Other leisure and entertainment opportunities include fine restaurants, wineries, casinos, and community theatre. Oroville Dam, the tallest dam in the U.S., impounds Lake Oroville, the second largest reservoir in California and a major recreation area.The nearby city of Chico is the cultural, economic, and educational center of northern Sacramento Valley.
