Placerville

Placerville is the county seat of El Dorado County, just off Highways 49 and 50 in California's Gold Country. The town is centrally located between Sacramento and the Lake Tahoe Basin. The Gold Bug Park & Mine is now a museum focusing on the region's fascinating Gold Rush history. The town has several buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places. El Dorado County is a notable wine producing region, and the Placerville Apple Hill Festival with its array of craft vendors draws thousands of tourists to local ranches during the harvest season.
