Arcata

Arcata is located on Humboldt Bay in the North Coast area of California. A lumbering and mining port in the 19th century, Arcata still features several examples of that era's charming architecture. The city lies in a region of redwood forests, river systems, and dune-fringed beaches, providing a host of recreational opportunities. The town square, known as Arcata Plaza, is the site for many public events, including art exhibits, concerts, a farmers' market, and the starting point for the unique Kinetic Grand Championship sculpture race. Arcata is also a traditional college town, home to Humboldt State University.
